About Nutrafortified

Nutrition begins with the ground beneath us.

Nutrafortified’s farm in Five Points, California sits on a rare geological zone where the soil contains naturally elevated selenium levels originating from ancient marine sediment deposits. This unique mineral profile provides the foundation for our work — but the soil alone is not what makes our crops exceptional. For more than a decade, Nutrafortified has invested in rigorous agronomic research, field trials, and varietal development to identify drought tolerant, selenium responsive broccoli cultivars capable of thriving in this environment. Through controlled irrigation, soil chemistry monitoring, and selective breeding of resilient crop lines, we’ve optimized the plant’s ability to uptake selenium in stable, nutritionally meaningful forms such as selenate, selenite, and organic seleno amino acids. This combination of unique soil chemistry, climate conditions, and scientifically guided crop development allows us to produce a variety of crops with a consistent, naturally occurring selenium profiles that cannot be replicated through synthetic fortification. It is the integration of land, science, and long term agronomic innovation that defines Nutrafortified’s farm origin nutraceuticals.

A thoughtful approach to nutrient-rich food.

We focus on the research context surrounding soil minerals, crop nutrition, cultivar selection, and biofortification. Our work is grounded in careful questions, transparent language, and respect for the scientific process.

Start with soil

We explore how mineral-rich growing environments and responsible cultivation practices can shape the conversation around crop nutrition.

Follow the evidence

We distinguish established nutrition knowledge from emerging research and communicate uncertainty clearly.

Respect review

Scientific, legal, and regulatory review guide how research context can responsibly become public-facing information.

Our perspective

From field research to informed conversation.

Nutrafortified is interested in the relationship between agricultural systems and the foods they produce. That includes the study of soil conditions, plant nutrients, and the careful interpretation of research related to selenium, sulfur, calcium, and other naturally occurring compounds.
